about

I began working on this project more than twenty years ago, giving myself permission to work on music without any preconceptions about genres and styles. I found it very refreshing just to explore whatever emerged. This group of pieces was completed within a couple of years; but there were a few of them I wanted to redo. It took a long time to see this wish through. I am happy to be sharing this work at last.

These tracks were composed in the order in which you find them on this album. They seemed to grow out of one another in certain ways, eventually delineating a unique musical world. I hope that you will find venturing into this territory as rewarding as I found it to be.

If you wish to transfer all this material to CD-R, use an 800 MB CD-R,
one which will give you more than 74 minutes.
If you have a 700MB CD-R, you must omit a track, as there are only 74 minutes of recording time. No.5 seems like a good choice to omit.

about

Lar Duggan Burlington, Vermont

Music has to come from the heart. It has to be about life. And you need to be able to live with it. I owe much to Margaret Chaloff, Joel Forbes, Dave McKenna, Bill Evans, and NYC jazz greats in the late 50s. Since that era I have continued to perform and to compose in a variety of genres. I have lived in Vermont since 1967 and rarely leave. My best known recorded work is "The Lake Studies". ... more
